About Me
Langston J. Duncanson
The Technophile – (ˈtɛknəˌfaɪl ) noun. a person who is enthusiastic about advanced technology or about high-tech equipment or devices.
My love of technology is the primary driving force of my career decisions. Ever since I was young I was always intrigued by Computers, Video Game Consoles, and even Television sets.
Once I was old enough to use a computer I found myself using a software known as RPG Maker. That was a major turn point because I went from just using a computer to enjoy entertainment or create documents with a word processor to dabbling in my first experience as a programmer.
I created websites using Adobe Fireworks and Dreamweaver. I just revelled in the fact that I could create and code and make the computer do my bidding. Learning Flash and Actionscript was a little outside my league because although I knew how to use my point and click system I was far from a basic programmer who would’ve know control flow and object oriented programming.
After I got into college I was able to take introductory programming courses such as C++, Java, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript. These courses empowered my thirst and made me an even more capable Techie.
Computer hardware came natural to me after reading books on how to build your first computer. I eventually did just that. I built an AMD FX based computer with a AMD Graphics card. It was amazing how I could take distinct parts put them together and with the right steps create a functioning computer.
I began to seek ways to prove my knowledge in Computer hardware and this is where I learned about Comptia A+ and I was hooked on reading the book and preparing for the test. I also picked up Cisco CCNA books to add networking to my repertoire.
Working for Staples, Best Buy Geek Squad, Office Depot Office Max, netTalk Inc and FIU College of Medicine IT Department further cemented my love for Technology.
My roots in game development from my RPG Maker days has lead me to have soft spot for video game design. I recently started programming in C# using the Unity Game Engine. It is one of my favorite hobbies of mine because I get to create visually appealing games and I get to functionally see what I program because of the visual feedback.
Overall, I am a enthusiastic technology oriented technician and coder. I have aspirations to develop my talents to becoming a full-fledged programmer and eventually software developer to software engineer. These are all my goals and endeavors.
Thanks for reading … and getting to know more about me.
